What a magnificent program we had at school on Monday, February 13 in honor of Tu b'Shvat, the birthday of trees. We joyfully celebrated the first spring blossom of trees in Israel, while temporarily ignoring our local bare trees and snow covered streets.
Thanks to the generosity of Finally Natural, we enjoyed fruits of Israel and the Bible, and thanks to Moshe Shulman, we had wonderful musical accompaniment.
The middle school students shared their research on the Seven Species of foods, and enticed all in attendance to try barley, dates, almonds, raisins, carob, olives, figs, dried bananas and pineapple... each with its own, appropriate blessing, in a unique Tu b’Shvat Seder.
Other students entertained the many parents and teachers in attendance with joyful singing, dancing, and a delightful Tu b'Shvat play. Special thanks to Mrs. Michal Lewis who worked very hard to coordinate this wonderful program, assisted by Mrs. Becky Laufgraben, Ms. Talia Berkowitz, and the entire teaching and aide staff.
It was wonderful to see how proud the children were, and their exuberance was reflected in the faces of their proud parents, many of whom helped set up the TuB'Shvat Seder. It was a treat for all who participated in this wonderful experience!
