Like many people, I’ve wanted to go to Paris all my life. One year ago that dream came true. Luckily, it did not disappoint. I was there with my family, and we stayed a little bit more than a week. Shopping, sightseeing, and exploring. Here are my best tips for an awesome vacation in Paris. The places you must see if you’re a first time tourist in Paris.
The symbol of Paris, the Eiffel Tower
It has to be mentioned, and it has to be mentioned first. This is it. The image most people picture if you mention Paris, the most popular tourist place in the city. If you’ve never been before, this is a must. It’s impossible to visit Paris without experiencing the Eiffel Tower. Originally when it was created in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel it was supposed to be only temporary on display. But it ended up being so loved that it had to stay. And now it’s not possible to even picture France without the iconic tower.
Seven million tourists visit the Eiffel Tower every year, last year it was my turn. I’m extremely afraid of heights, so even though this was something I had been looking forward to, I was petrified. I was happy to find out the fences in the tower goes all the way up, so you never feel like you could “fall” over or like you are unsafe. The view and entire experience were just fantastic and I would recommend every first time tourist to visit the majestic tower.
A visit to the Louvre
One of the most famous museums in the world, and the home to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. This iconic painting is just one of the reasons why the Louvre is the most visited museum in the world. If you’re planning a visit, take a look here and read up about all of the exhibitions and different collections on display. There’s usually a long line of tourists waiting to get in, so be prepared to stand in line. The wait is definitely worth it!
Champs-Élysées, the perfect place for window shopping!
When I was a little girl, I would picture this street when thinking about famous shopping streets. This is the ultimate place for shopping, too expensive shopping for me, unfortunately. In other words, I had to settle for window shopping. On the other side of this avenue, there are more “normal” shops for us non-celebrities. So don’t worry, shopping is definitely still possible. And if you want to splurge and treat yourself, go have a look in Dior, Valentino, Chanel, or Gucci. I had the time of my life just walking around, taking pictures of everything, and pretending to be a Parisian.
